There were three churches in Alexandria – the Old Parish in the Main Street, now a children’s soft-play area and dance studio; the old North Church in Bank Street and Bridge Street Church in Upper Bridge Street, the congregation having moved there from a smaller building in Bridge Street which is today occupied by Alexandria Baptist Church.  The ‘Wee Tin Kirk’ was there as well which ‘grew’ from the Old Parish and took root in Argyll Street.   Bonhill North Church – Mount Zion, after the readjustment in the Church of Scotland in the last quarter of the  twentieth century, found itself in linkage, then in Union with Alexandria Old Parish Church.  In the 1960s, the congregation of Bank Street Church moved to a brand new building – the present  Alexandria Parish – in Balloch. In  1987, Bridge Street Kirk united with the Old Parish to form Alexandria St Andrews.

Alexandria Parish is a white church with square bell-tower built in the 1960s. The building was refurbished and upgraded in 1995-6. The digital organ is by Allen. The Congregational Sewing Group produced the Heritage Tapestry 30 by 27 inches, finely embroidered pulpit falls, communion table cords, and the hand-sewn banners (two on local themes). Several noteworthy items of stained glass. There is a Noah’s Ark mural in main hall. In the grounds, a war memorial commemorating members of the congregation killed in action 1914-18 and 1939-45.
