St Peter's is the oldest post-Reformation Roman Catholic church in Galloway and oldest ecclesiastical building in the town.

Built in 1814, St Peter’s is the oldest post-Reformation Roman Catholic church in Galloway and oldest ecclesiastical building in the town. It is a hall church from 1814, built of a pink-coloured granite with red sandstone dressings with a house for the parish priest attached. Its distinctive grey granite tower was added in 1854.

Its peaceful light and airy interior, with its simple pine bench style pews, and the well maintained grounds outside offer a calm and reflective spaces for visitors. There is also a beautiful little pipe organ in the choir loft.

Vigil Mass is held at St Peter’s at 5.00pm on Saturdays. Sunday Mass can be found at St. Andrew`s and St. Cuthbert`s Kirkcudbright at 9.30am or at 10am in St. Andrew`s Dumfries or at 11.30am in St Teresa's, Dumfries.
